Snail Cream and Hydration: What a Clinical Trial Shows

How to interpret a split-face trial of a snail-containing cream without treating every cream as the same product.

Hydration is a measurable outcome

A study can measure surface hydration separately from other outcomes such as water loss, redness or how skin feels. An improvement in one measurement should not become an all-purpose promise about a cosmetic.

The 2021 trial

Theerawattanawit and colleagues studied 22 people after fractional CO₂ laser treatment. For 14 days, one cheek received a snail-containing cream and the other placebo. Hydration readings were higher on the active side at day 14; transepidermal water loss and colour measurements were not different. This was a specific post-procedure formulation and setting, not a trial of the catalogue cream.

How it relates to a daily face cream

The study is useful background for discussing hydration research. It does not establish that the cream shown here has the same composition or results. It also does not make this product suitable for use after a procedure without directions from the clinician who performed it.

Choose by the complete formula

The catalogue cream lists aloe vera, botanical oils and butters, beeswax and aromatic ingredients alongside snail mucin. Review the full ingredient list, your skin tolerance and the current product directions. Ask us about the available sizes or ingredient information.
